// Volunteers are the backbone and support of Project Bona Fide. The scale of the project and farm will evolve as our volunteer program grows. Volunteers support a variety of projects including; natural building, tree propagation, gardening, irrigation, cooking, planting and health projects with local community, language exchange, relaxing, reading, and swimming.
We receive volunteers through OrganicVolunteers and WWOOF, sister non-profit organizations that helps match those looking to volunteer with projects and farms seeking help. Project Bona Fide asks international volunteer participates to cover room and board plus an additional $3 a day for the Farm Fund, totaling $8 a day. Those staying for a month or more are asked to just cover room and board at $5 a day.

Intern Positions Now Available!
Project Bona Fide Volunteer Coordinator
This position requires a minimum 3 month commitment, a six month
commitment is preferred. Applicants should be comfortable speaking
Spanish (or willing to attend language school for 1 month prior to
their commitment) managing people, doing simple accounting, and have
basic skills in gardening, horticulture, carpentry, or a keen desire
to acquire said skills. This position is currently not a paid one
but includes room, board, a free Permaculture design course ($1450
value), and opportunities to learn about tropical poly-cultures,
agro-forestry, natural building, design/build water systems,
non-profit international development/out reach strategies and
administration.
Garden Manager
This position requires the applicant to be skilled in the management
and maintenance of an annual based garden system of almost one half
acre. Applicants with considerable garden experience are encouraged
to apply. Interns receive free room and board in exchange for
approximately 30-35 hours of work per week plus a free Permaculture
Design Course. Opportunities abound for those interested in learning
about tropical agriculture Permaculture systems. Ongoing projects on
the farm and in the local community will also enrich one's experience.
Experience speaking Spanish is helpful but not required. This
position requires a minimum 4 month commitment and starts in
October-November of each year.
Nursery Intern/Garden Support
This position requires applicants to have basic skills in seed
propagation or a keen desire to learn them. Interns receive free
room and board in exchange for 30-35 hours of work per week plus a
free Permaculture Design Course. Interns are expected to aid the
Garden manager as well as co-manage the nursery. The nursery houses
over 200 species of tropical Permaculture multi-use plants and is
expanded by seed, cutting, and grafting types of propagation.
Opportunities abound for those interested in learning about tropical
agriculture Permaculture systems. Ongoing projects on the farm and
in the local community will also enrich one's experience. Experience
speaking Spanish is helpful but not required. This position requires
