// Although Nicaragua is rich in land and resources, half its people earn less than $350 per year, and malnutrition is a growing problem. Nicaragua's agriculturally based economy is one of the poorest in the world, limited by lack of investment and market links. Dependent on foreign aid and debt, Nicaragua is struggling to obtain economic independence, cultural integrity, and environmental preservation. By self-empowering these rural communities through their traditional skills of agriculture they will be able to raise and direct their own standards of living.

Financing from private donations is needed to establish farmers and address immediate health needs until direct market links support communities economically. Funding is needed to support Children's Nutritional Program, smoke free stoves, planting projects, renewable energy resources (solar and wind), product transportation, literature, nursery stock, and materials for sanitation and waste management. A little goes a long way to those with none.
